Privacy Policy for UpLvL

Welcome to UpLvL! This Privacy Policy explains how UpLvL collects, uses, shares, and protects information in relation to our mobile application UpLvL. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your information and how we will treat it.
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described in this policy, you should not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide and improve the UpLvL service. This includes:
Information You Provide Directly:
- Photos and Media: To fulfill the core functionality of task verification, the App requires access to your device's camera and/or photo gallery. You will be prompted to grant these permissions. We collect the photos you choose to upload as proof of task completion.
- Task Information: Information related to the goals and tasks you set and attempt to verify within the App.

Account Information: To create an account and allow you to log in securely, we collect information you provide, such as your email address and your password. For your security, passwords are stored in a securely hashed format in our database, meaning we cannot view or access your actual password.
Permissions We Request:
- Camera Access: Required to allow you to take live photos directly within the App for task verification.
- Gallery/Photo Library Access: Required to allow you to select and upload existing photos from your device's gallery for task verification.
- Notification Access: Required to send you reminders, updates about your tasks, verification status notifications, and other relevant App-related communications via push notifications. Granting this permission allows the app to collect the necessary FCM or APN token.
Information Collected Automatically:

Device Time Zone: We automatically collect your device's time zone information. This is used solely for internal validation purposes related to task completion and logging within the App.

Push Notification Tokens: If you grant permission for notifications, the App will collect a unique token generated by your device's operating system for push notifications. This includes the Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token on Android devices and the Apple Push Notification service (APN) token on iOS devices. These tokens are essential for us to send you reminders, task updates, verification results, and other relevant communications via push notifications. We do not use these tokens for tracking or advertising purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Operate the App: To allow you to set goals, track tasks, and use the core features of UpLvL.
- To Facilitate Task Verification: To enable you to upload photos as proof of task completion.
- To Enable Community Verification: Your uploaded photos, along with associated task information (but not your username or any other personally identifying information linked to your profile), will be shared with other UpLvL users solely for the purpose of verifying task completion. Verifiers will only see the photo and relevant task details.
- To Send Notifications: To provide reminders, updates, verification results, and other service-related messages, if you grant notification permissions.
- For Security and Storage: To securely store your uploaded photos and protect the integrity of the App and user data.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
3. How We Share Your Information
We value your privacy and limit sharing of your information:
- Community Verification: As described above, photos submitted for verification, along with non-identifying task information, are shared anonymously with other users for the sole purpose of verification. Your username or profile identity is not shared in this process.
To maintain platform safety, these photos are processed by automated moderation tools designed to detect and filter prohibited content (such as nudity or graphic violence) before or during the verification process.
- Service Providers: We use third-party service providers to help operate our App. Specifically, photos you upload are stored on Cloudflare. These photos are stored securely and are set to private by default. Cloudflare is contractually obligated to handle your data securely and in accordance with privacy standards, but they operate under their own privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, prevent fraud, act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the App, or protect against legal liability.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Storage: Photos uploaded for task verification are stored securely using Cloudflare's infrastructure.
- Security: We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Photos are private by default within the storage system. However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

Photos for Verification: Photos uploaded for task verification will be automatically and permanently deleted from our systems (including Cloudflare storage) 30 days after they have been successfully verified by the community.

Account and Task Information: We retain your account information (such as your email address) and task history for as long as your account remains active with UpLvL. If you request account deletion, or if your account becomes inactive for an extended period (e.g., 2 years), we will delete or anonymize this information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is necessary for specific purposes like complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing our agreements, or preventing fraud.
5. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
We respect your privacy rights and provide you with reasonable access to the Personal Data that you may have provided through your use of the App.

Permissions: You can manage Camera, Gallery, and Notification permissions through your device's settings menu. Disabling certain permissions may limit your ability to use specific features of the App (e.g., photo verification).

Access and Correction: You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You also have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate personal information.
For requests to access or correct your information, or if you cannot update it yourself, please contact us at support@uplvl.io. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.

Deletion: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated personal data. You can make this request by contacting us at support@uplvl.io. As noted in Section 4, verified photos are automatically deleted 30 days post-verification. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will delete your account and associated personal data in accordance with applicable law, except where we are legally required or have a legitimate business reason to retain certain information (such as for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance).
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold depending on the jurisdiction, e.g., 16 in parts of the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. 7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you either through the App interface, by sending you a notification (if permitted), or by other reasonable means before the change becomes effective. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
